Thin Films Society Workshop held in Nantou Taiwan April 18-19, 2025

The Thin Film Society (TFS) Workshop 2025 took place on April 18 – 19 at National Chi Nan University (NCNU) in Nantou, Taiwan, bringing together leading experts in thin film technology. Co-chaired by Prof. Sam Zhang, President of the Thin Film Society, and Prof. Wuu Dong-Sing, President of NCNU, the event featured presentations from 15 scholars and researchers from China Mainland, South Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan. Participants showcased their latest advancements in thin film and coating technologies, interdisciplinary research, and novel material development. Representatives from ten local universities of Taiwan region also attended.

During the workshop, preparations for the upcoming international conference the ThinFilms2026 – scheduled for July next year in Singapore – were discussed. Prof. Sam Zhang, Chair of the conference, warmly invited all attendees to reunite in Singapore for the event.

Beyond its academic value, the Nantou workshop provided a valuable platform for scholars from Taiwan, South Korea, and Singapore to exchange ideas while paving the way for promoting ThinFilms2026 in Taiwan. It also served as a great networking opportunity, allowing old friends from different regions to reconnect in a warmly atmosphere.

The next stop for the TFS Workshop series will be held in Kunming, China.
