The Thin Film Society (TFS) Workshop 2025 took place on 21-23 June at Kunming, China, bringing together leading experts in thin film technology. Chaired by Dr Liu Shiyu, General Secretary of the Thin Film Society. The event featured presentations from 10 scholars and researchers from China Mainland, South Korea and Singapore. Participants showcased their latest advancements in thin film and coating technologies, interdisciplinary research, and novel material development.
During the workshop, preparations for the upcoming international conference the ThinFilms2026 – scheduled for July next year in Singapore – were discussed. Prof. Sam Zhang, Chair of the conference ThinFilms2026, warmly invited all attendees to reunite in Singapore for the event.
Beyond its academic value, the Kunming workshop provided a valuable platform for scholars from different regions of China to exchange ideas while paving the way for promoting ThinFilms2026 in China. It also served as a great networking opportunity, allowing old friends from different regions to reconnect in a warmly atmosphere.
The next stop for the TFS Workshop series will be held in Jeju, Korea.
