T his event celebrates the 10th year of successful launching of this biannua l conference series\, and the second time under the auspices of the Thin F ilms Society. The Conference\, comprising 12 Symposia from biological coat ings to photocatalytic and self-cleaning thin films\, received over 800 su bmissions\, of which 660 were accepted for presentation\, in either Oral o r Poster form.\n\nFollowing the keynote lectures on July 15\, the individu al symposia convened in parallel breakout sessions\, with designated poste r presentations after the oral sessions. On the evening of July 16\, a ban quet was held for all delegates at the Concorde Hotel\, during which the a ttendees voted for their favorite posters among the finalists of the popul ar poster competition. The top poster prize this year was won by the team from Ming Chi University of Technology\, Taiwan.\n\nIn the Conference\, ma ny interaction sessions\, old friendships were renewed and new ones formed \, building the basis for the next international event\, which the Thin Fi lms Society will begin actively planning almost as soon as the curtain is drawn.
